10 Peaks. 10 Stories. A whole lot of adventure.
Imagine reaching the top of a mountain, your legs a little tired, your hair a complete mess, and your heart racing from the climb. You turn around, take in the view, and suddenly remember exactly why you decided to do this.
Maybe you're standing there with the person you're about to marry, getting ready to exchange vows with the mountains stretching endlessly behind you.
Maybe you're holding your growing belly, celebrating the little life you're carrying and everything that's about to change.
Or maybe your children are exploring the rocks, laughing, asking a million questions, and reminding you to slow down long enough to appreciate the world through their eyes.
Now imagine having those moments documented.
Not just the beautiful portraits with breathtaking views, but the laughter along the trail, the wind whipping through your hair, the way you reach for each other's hands, and that feeling of being completely, wonderfully present.
That's what I'm dreaming of creating with my 52 With a View Photography Project.
And I'm looking for some adventurous souls who want to help bring it to life.
For 2027, I'm inviting couples and families to join me for a series of personalized mountain photography adventures across New Hampshire's 52 With a View. From intimate elopements and adventurous maternity sessions to family stories and meaningful milestones, I'm starting with ten summits and looking for ten stories to bring them to life.
How I Fell in Love With the Mountains
I didn't grow up climbing mountains every weekend.
It wasn't until after my husband and I had our first child that we really started getting into hiking together.
We explored trails, took on new challenges, and gradually found ourselves falling more and more in love with being outside.
I remember hiking Mount Kearsarge when our oldest was around two, but one of the experiences that really stayed with me was hiking to Arethusa Falls.
I was 28 weeks pregnant with our son, Sequoyah, and that hike was a lot.
But when we finally made it to those waterfalls?
I don't think I'll ever forget that feeling.
The accomplishment. The beauty. The sound of the water. Just standing there, taking it all in, knowing we'd made it.
After losing Sequoyah to stillbirth, Arethusa Falls became an even more meaningful place for our family. We've returned to hike there in his memory, and I've spent a lot of time thinking about the ways we can continue honoring him through experiences, exploring new places, and making memories together.
I think there's something really special about the way places can become intertwined with our stories.
How a mountain, a waterfall, or even a particular stretch of trail can hold so much more meaning than someone passing through might ever realize.
And maybe that's part of why I've become so drawn to creating photographs in these places.
Because I know firsthand that the experience itself can become just as meaningful as the destination.
Somewhere Along the Way, Hiking Became Part of My Art
A few years ago, I started incorporating more hiking into my photography sessions.
I've hiked up trails in the dark to photograph a beautiful woman as the sun came up over the mountains. I've explored mountaintops with couples as the evening light changed around us. I've photographed proposals and watched people experience some of the biggest moments of their lives surrounded by these incredible landscapes.
And every time, I fell a little more in love with it.
Not just with the photographs I could create, but with the whole experience.
The conversations along the trail. The anticipation of getting to the top. The way people start to relax and open up when they're doing something they genuinely enjoy.
And, of course, the creative possibilities.
I've spent countless hours researching hiking trails, watching videos, looking at photographs, and daydreaming about all the places I'd love to explore throughout New Hampshire and across the country.
At some point, I started wondering what it would look like to turn that passion into something bigger.
Something that challenged me creatively, encouraged me to keep exploring, and invited other people to be part of the adventure.
A COUPLE LAUGHING AT SUNSET ON THE SUMMIT OF WEST RATTLESNAKE MOUNTAIN IN HOLDERNESS NH DURING a WINTER hike.
Why the 52 With a View?
My original idea was actually to create a photography project around New Hampshire's 4,000-footers.
But someone suggested looking into the 52 With a View list instead.
And the more I researched it, the more I realized how perfect it could be for what I wanted to create.
The 52 With a View is a collection of New Hampshire mountains celebrated for their scenic viewpoints, all below 4,000 feet.
And while I absolutely love iconic locations like Cathedral Ledge and Artist's Bluff, I wanted to challenge myself to explore beyond some of the places we see photographed over and over again.
I wanted to find new perspectives, new experiences, and opportunities to create something that felt a little different.
The beauty of this list is that the mountains offer a variety of hiking experiences. Some are relatively approachable, while others require more time, endurance, and preparation.
Which means the adventure doesn't have to look the same for everyone.
And that's exactly what I love about it.
Chapter One: 10 Peaks. 10 Stories.
There are 52 mountains on the list, but I'm starting with ten.
Ten summits. Ten different stories. Ten opportunities to explore some of the most beautiful landscapes in my home state while creating something meaningful with the people who join me.
I'm hoping to begin bringing these adventures to life in 2027, and I'm inviting couples and families to help shape this first chapter.
Maybe you're planning an intimate elopement and want to exchange vows somewhere that feels a little wild and wonderfully unconventional.
Maybe you're celebrating an anniversary, an engagement, or a chapter of life that deserves to be remembered.
Maybe you're expecting a baby and want maternity photographs that feel powerful, earthy, and completely different from anything you've imagined before.
Or maybe you want to take your family on an adventure, watch your children discover somewhere new, and have photographs that remind you of what this season of life actually felt like.
There isn't one specific kind of story I'm looking for.
In fact, I'd love for these first ten experiences to be as different and unique as the people who become part of them.
These first ten stories will become the founding chapter of a larger creative collection, with each adventure documented and shared as its own little piece of the project.
Could One of These Stories Be Yours?
I'm currently welcoming inquiries for 2027 adventures! If something about this project has you dreaming, I'd love to hear what you're imagining.
[TELL ME ABOUT YOUR ADVENTURE]
The First Mountains I'm Dreaming About
I've been researching ten locations to begin this project, and there are three I'm especially excited to introduce first.
Mount Willard - Crawford Notch, New Hampshire
Approximately 3.2 miles round trip | Moderate uphill hike | Sweeping Crawford Notch views
There's something incredible about the view from Mount Willard.
The dramatic mountains surrounding Crawford Notch create the kind of backdrop that almost doesn't look real.
It's one of the first places I think of when imagining an intimate elopement, a couple wrapped up in each other, or someone experiencing their first mountain photography adventure.
Although it involves a sustained uphill climb, the commonly used trail offers a beautiful reward without requiring an all-day expedition.
Imagine getting to the overlook, taking a moment to catch your breath, and then exchanging vows with that entire landscape stretching out behind you.
Middle Sugarloaf - Twin Mountain, New Hampshire
Approximately 3.4 miles round trip | Moderate hike with steady elevation gain | Open ledges and layered mountain views
Middle Sugarloaf has these beautiful open ledges and layered mountain views that I can already imagine photographing in the soft evening light.
I love the possibilities here for couples, engagements, maternity sessions, and intimate celebrations.
The hike has a meaningful amount of elevation gain, so we'd plan accordingly.
I'm picturing warm light, wind in your hair, movement, laughter, and those quiet little moments where you forget there's even a camera around.
Mount Kearsarge - Wilmot, New Hampshire
Approximately 2.8 miles for the Barlow–Winslow loop | Moderate hike | Exposed granite summit and panoramic views
Mount Kearsarge offers an entirely different kind of landscape, with its exposed granite summit and expansive views.
It's a location I'm especially interested in for the creative possibilities.
I can imagine a couple exploring the summit together, a flowing dress catching the wind, or a family sitting together and taking in the scenery.
Different trails offer different experiences, and part of the fun will be figuring out which route and setting best suit the people joining me.
These are just the beginning.
The rest of my initial list includes Mount Cardigan, Mount Pemigewasset, Welch–Dickey, Black Mountain in Benton, Hedgehog Mountain, Bald Peak in Easton, and Magalloway Mountain.
Some are better suited to people who already love hiking. Others may be a better fit for someone looking to try something new.
And I don't want to assign a particular kind of session to each mountain before I've even met the people who might be part of it.
I want to hear your story first.
You Don't Have to Be an Expert Hiker to Have an Adventure
Can I tell you something?
I love hiking, but I'm also absolutely the person who gets out of breath, laughs about it, and wonders why I thought carrying photography equipment up a mountain was such a brilliant idea.
So please don't think you need to be some kind of professional adventurer to reach out.
What matters to me is finding an experience that makes sense for you.
Before we ever commit to a location, we'll talk about your comfort with hiking, your experience level, the physical demands of the trail, and what kind of adventure you're hoping for.
Some people might be excited about a longer, more challenging climb. Others might want something shorter where we can take our time, stop for breaks, and enjoy the journey without feeling rushed.
And if you're bringing children, that becomes an important part of our planning, too.
I want you to actually enjoy this experience.
I don't want you reaching the summit so exhausted and miserable that the last thing you want to do is have your photograph taken.
We'll be realistic about the hike, plan around the conditions, and choose something that feels like a good fit.
Because this isn't about proving how far or how fast you can climb.
It's about the experience we create along the way.
What Does a Mountain Photography Experience Actually Look Like?
This is where things get really fun.
I don't want these adventures to feel like a typical photo session where we show up, spend an hour posing, and head home.
I want to tell a story.
And depending on what you're celebrating, that story might begin before we ever reach the summit.
We might document parts of the hike, the conversations, the little moments of encouragement, or the excitement as the views begin to open up.
Once we reach our destination, we'll have time to settle in, catch our breath, explore, and prepare.
If you're wearing something special for your photographs, we can plan for changing once we reach our destination. I have a portable changing tent I've brought on hiking sessions before, and my client closet has dresses and other pieces we can discuss incorporating into your experience.
We'll think about practical things, too, like packing supplies to freshen up, allowing extra time for breaks, and planning our arrival around the light.
For an elopement, that might mean documenting the hike, getting ready, exchanging vows, celebrating together, and creating intentional portraits that reflect your relationship.
For a maternity session, maybe it's about celebrating your body, the life you're growing, and the anticipation of everything ahead.
For a family, maybe it's a mixture of exploring, cuddling, laughing, and allowing your children to simply be themselves.
I love creative direction. I love imagining interesting compositions, beautiful movement, and photographs that feel like pieces of art.
But I also love the moments nobody could have planned.
The genuine laughter. The unexpected tears. The way someone reaches for their partner without thinking.
I want both.
And once you've booked, we'll dive deeper into the creative planning together, talking about your vision, the images you're drawn to, your story, your outfits, and the details that will make the experience feel personal.
Because I don't want to create the same photographs for ten different people.
I want to create something that belongs to you.
And What If We Turned Your Adventure Into a Film?
Photography will always be at the heart of this project.
But I'm also really excited about the possibility of incorporating cinematic filmmaking into these experiences.
Because as much as I love photographs, there's something different about seeing a moment come back to life through movement and sound.
The wind blowing across the summit.
Your dress moving as you walk.
Your partner laughing.
The sound of your vows being spoken out loud.
Your children exploring and calling out to you.
I can create photographs that preserve the beauty and emotion of those moments, but film can bring another dimension to the experience.
For elopements and larger storytelling experiences, I may collaborate with my videographer, Tristan, who also enjoys hiking and creating beautiful films.
For some sessions, I can incorporate shorter video coverage alongside photography myself.
And depending on the location, conditions, and applicable permissions, there may even be opportunities to incorporate drone imagery.
Can you imagine seeing yourselves surrounded by the enormous landscape from above?
Of course, drone coverage isn't possible everywhere, and I would never want to compromise the environment, safety, or the experience for a particular shot.
But where it's appropriate and permitted, the creative possibilities are pretty incredible.
Film and drone coverage would be optional additions to the photography experience, and we'd discuss what makes sense for your story during planning.
A Little Glimpse Into What This Could Look Like
One of my favorite things about adventure sessions is that you never quite know which moments are going to stay with you forever.
This particular experience began as an adventure couples session, complete with a hike up the mountain. But what made it even more special was that it turned into a proposal at the summit.
And I got to document it all.
It's exactly the kind of storytelling that makes me so excited about this project. The adventure, the anticipation, the genuine emotions, and a moment that became part of their story forever.
Take a little peek at what an adventure with me can look like. 🤍
The Adventure Matters Just as Much as the Photographs
When I think about what I want this project to become, I picture a collection of images that feels almost like a love letter to New Hampshire.
These enormous, breathtaking landscapes with people nestled into them.
And then the smaller moments.
Hands intertwined. Foreheads touching. A child being scooped into their parent's arms. Someone laughing so hard they can't stop. A quiet tear during a vow.
I want to see the whole picture.
The big, cinematic photographs that make you stop scrolling, and the intimate details that make you feel something.
But more than anything, I want the people in those photographs to look back twenty years from now and remember the experience.
I want you to remember what it felt like to reach the top.
How the view took your breath away.
The wind in your hair. The person standing beside you. The laughter, the nerves, the accomplishment, and maybe even how sore your legs were the next morning.
I want you to remember that you did something different.
That you made time to be present.
That you went somewhere beautiful and experienced something meaningful with people you love.
And that somewhere along the way, we created art together.
Frequently Asked Questions About the 52 With a View Project
Do we need to be experienced hikers?
Not necessarily! You don't need to be an expert hiker to join me on an adventure. Some mountains are more approachable than others, and part of our planning process is finding a trail that suits your experience, comfort level, and physical abilities.
We'll talk about what you're comfortable with, how challenging you'd like your adventure to be, and how much time we should allow. I want this to be something you genuinely enjoy, not just something you survive for the photographs!
Can we bring our children?
Absolutely! I'd love to document families experiencing these beautiful places together.
Of course, not every summit is going to be appropriate for every age group. We'll consider your children's ages, hiking experience, and the difficulty of the trail when choosing a location. Safety and enjoyment will always be priorities.
What if we're awkward in front of the camera?
Then we'll probably get along just fine!
You don't need to know how to pose or spend the entire experience looking at my camera. I'll offer guidance and creative direction when it's helpful, but I also want you to explore, laugh, hold each other, and enjoy being together.
Some of my favorite photographs happen in those little in-between moments.
What should we wear? Do we have to hike in our photo outfits?
Definitely not! In fact, I'd usually recommend hiking in comfortable, appropriate clothing and footwear.
We can plan for changing once we reach our destination, where permitted, and I even have a portable changing tent! I also have a client closet with dresses and other pieces we can discuss incorporating into your experience.
We'll work through the practical details together once you're booked.
What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?
Mountain weather can be unpredictable, and sometimes the safest decision is to change our plans.
We'll discuss weather considerations, flexibility, and backup options ahead of time. While a little wind or cloud cover can create incredible photographs, safety will always come before getting a particular shot.
Can we include video or drone footage?
Yes! Photography is included in every experience, and cinematic filmmaking can be added for couples and families who want another way to remember their adventure.
Drone footage may also be possible at select locations, depending on airspace restrictions, land-management rules, weather, and necessary permissions. We'll discuss what's realistically available for your chosen summit.
How do we become part of the project?
Start by reaching out and telling me what you're dreaming about!
I'd love to hear what kind of story you want to tell, whether there's a mountain you're drawn to, and what inspired you to consider an adventure like this.
We'll connect, explore the possibilities, and talk about the experience and investment. Once you're officially booked, we'll dive into the personalized creative planning together.
Because this is a public storytelling project, we'll also discuss how your photographs and story will be featured as part of the collection.
Want to Be Part of the First Chapter?
I'm beginning to plan and welcome inquiries for 2027 52 With a View photography adventures, and I'd love to hear what this project brings to mind for you.
Maybe you've been dreaming of eloping on a mountain.
Maybe you've always wanted to try an adventurous maternity session.
Maybe there's a summit you've been wanting to explore with your family, or a milestone in your relationship you'd love to celebrate in a completely different way.
You don't need to have every detail figured out.
In fact, I'd love to hear your ideas while they're still a little wild and unfinished.
Tell me what you're imagining, what kind of experience excites you, and what you'd love to remember about this chapter of your life.
We'll start with a conversation about your vision, your comfort level, and the possibilities. From there, I'll help you explore what kind of experience could be the right fit.
Because the best part of this project isn't just going to be reaching ten summits.
It's going to be discovering the stories we create along the way.
So, what do you say? Want to climb a mountain with me?
